Day 8

Day 8 – A song to match your mood.

"Poor Unfortunate Souls" is the song of my mood right now. I was Ursula for Halloween and I feel as powerful, sassy, and awesome as she is. She also happens to be my favorite villianess. :D

Day 7

Day 7 – Your dream wedding

I'm not going to say that I haven't thought about this future magical day. I am going to say that the most magical part about that day will be being sealed in the temple for time and all eternity to the perfect man for me. Until then I will just dream about the party afterwards! :D

My ideal wedding is a Coca~cola wedding. The colors are Candy Apple Red and Robin's Egg Blue.

I'm not really a fan of the lollipops and candy sticks but they do match the colors.

A bouquet of daises or daises and roses would keep it fun and romantic.

I just love the shape of these bottles and the tags on them are just darling. I figured they would be great thank you gifts for all of those wonderful people who will be helping out that day.

Isn't this a cute idea for center pieces! :) I just the thought of using the Coke bottles as vases.

I think this cake is fun and kind of retro. I do not like cupcakes. I do not want cupcakes, Sam, I am. And the invitations would be simple enough that I could do them myself for cheap or I would most likely have my invitations done at Happy Potamus Designs. Check it out! She does all sorts of cute cards and invitations.

I just wanted to add this picture because it has the right colors in it. :)

These are just some ideas that I have. All of my wedding decisions depend on my future husband, because it's his day too; but I still want to be the one to decorate for it. :D

Day 6

Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.
I want a Siberian Tiger so badly! I mean Princess Jasmine had one why can't I? Plus they are so plushy and soft and powerful! I totally want one so bad!!! :D

Day 5

Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.

I used to have medium length hair and I hadn't gained my Freshman 15 or my Sophomore 30 yet. I was just figuring out the whole college scene. I can honestly say I that I have come a long way...

Day 4

Day 4 – Your favorite photograph of your best friend.

This one of my favorite picture of my friend, Alaura. I love this picture because:

  1. I took this picture.
  2. She looks like she belongs on America's Next Top Model.
  3. I took this picture.
  4. This picture shows off her sexy legs and super hot red highheels.
  5. And I took this picture.

Day 3

Day 3 - A photo of the perfect first date.

My perfect first date would be an activity that allows me to get to know my date and have fun.

Bowling is an easy and fun date. Plus you can eat there too! Everyone knows that Jack & Jill's in American Fork has pretty good shakes and yummy burgers. :)

Game Night is always a huge hit with me. It's perfect for double dates. Games help break down barriers and people tend to act more like themselves.

Day 2

Day 2 - A photo of something you ate today.

I had a huge craving for KFC during my Stats class so when I got home I annouced to my roomies that I was headed out and they decided to go with me. The nice night manager at the KFC gave us a great deal on a family combo meal. Bless you sir, bless you.

Day 1

Day 1 - A photo of yourself and how your day was.

My day has been really chill, in this case chill being relaxed and cold. It's been raining the past few days and I have loved every minute of it. It makes all of the autumn colors stand out even more. This has resulted in cold fingers and toes. I have been doing one of my favorite things: cuddle in bed while watching the rain outside. I went to church this morning, had soup for lunch and have jammed to my tunes for the afternoon. I am chill. :)

Men vs. Women

I would like to share a funny comedy sketch about men and women and how their brains work.

Tale of Two Brains

The reason why this clip is so funny is because everything this man says about men and women is true. :D I hope you enjoy.

Dear Liza & Henry

We all are familiar with the children's song "There's a Hole in My Bucket". If not here are the lyrics:

There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, a hole.
Then fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry, fix it.

With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, with what?
With a straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, a straw.

The straw is too long, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The straw is too long, dear Liza, too long,
Then cut it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then cut it, dear Henry, dear Henry, cut it.

With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, with what?
With an ax, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With an ax, dear Henry, dear Henry, an ax.

The ax is too dull, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The ax is too dull, dear Liza, too dull.
Then sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, sharpen it.

With what shall I sharpen it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I sharpen it, dear Liza, with what?
With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, a stone.

The stone is too dry, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The stone is too dry, dear Liza, too dry.
Then wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, wet it.

With what shall I wet it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I wet, dear Liza, with what?
With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, water.

In what shall I carry it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
In what shall I carry it, dear Liza, in what?
In a bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
In a bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, bucket.

There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

This song has always driven me nuts and I'll tell you why:

  1. Liza is a bossy woman who seems to have all the answers for life's problems; however, just like every other woman on Earth she talks herself in a circle, ending up right where she started.
  2. Liza is also lazy. Most women I know would get fed up with dear Henry and take over doing the chore herself. Liza, dear, is content with being all talk and no action.
  3. Henry, the poor half-wit, cannot solve this simple problem. Every real man knows that you use the Handy Man's Secret Weapon: DUCT TAPE!!! Sheesh!
  4. Dear Henry pulling the classic married man trick: make up a lot of excuses why he can't do the chore and ask a lot of questions. Then the wife will get sick and tired of listening to him whine and she will just take over. Unfortunately, for poor Henry, this trick fails because, again, Liza, his sweet wife is lazy.
  5. Lastly, my suggestion to Henry is go to Walmart and buy a new bucket instead of complaining about it. Heck, they might be on sale. Buy a few extras so we can avoid another 10 verses of your bellyaching and your wife's ridiculous solutions.

I'm sure I could go on making incorrect society assumed judgements about Liza and Henry, but I will stop for now. I wish the best of luck to Liza and Henry and highly suggest marriage counseling.

Soul Sister

"A bosom friend --and intimate friend, you know--a really kindred spirit
to whom I can confide my inmost soul. I've dreamed of meeting her all my life."
--Anne of Green Gables

It was in first grade at Barratt Elementary School that I first met her. I remember becoming her friend but she doesn't remember much of me. (I think it was because I was "shy".) She was always fun to be around. She was smart, creative, funny and of course darling. We continued to have a mutual classmate friendship throughout the majority of elementary school. She switched schools and went to Shelly Elementary but that didn't stop us from becoming better friends when we reached Jr. High.

When we got to Jr. High we had more classes together and our friendship really started to blossom. I loved being in band with her because whenever the boys in the trumpet section were being dumb I would hang out with her and the clarinets. I also enjoyed being in PE with her. I remember one particular day when she lied to me saying she just found out she was adopted. Being the gullible person I am, I sucked up that story faster than a Hoover vacuum. I was a bit mad to find out that I had been duped but I had to admit it was a great prank.

Then one day, she moved away. I remember the day she told me was going to live with her sister in Wisconsin. Worry washed over me. I was afraid she would move away and fall in love Wisconsin and never want to come back. I was terrified that she would forget me or hate me when she got back. (I know that these feelings were irrational but I had two friends that had done that to me in elementary school, Tasia and Clarissa.)

Moving on to high school I became very involved with music. I had to fill the empty hole she left. So I did concert band and marching band. I spent the majority of my time either practicing, studying or just hanging out in the band room. One day I was standing around with some of my fellow trumpets and I glanced at the doorway and there she stood. My dearest friend came back! She smiled and called my name. I ran across the band room jumping and leaping over instrument cases and band chairs. As I tried to clear the last chair between us, my foot caught on the corner and I landed on my foot sideways spraining my ankle. As I fell to the ground, her arms extended out to me to catch me. I didn't care that I was in pain I only cared that she came back and she was still my friend.

For the rest of high school we grew closer and closer. In our senior year is when we really became inseparable. We ate lunch together everyday. She was my shoulder to lean on when I broke up with Mike. I was there by her side whenever her boyfriend decided to act like a stupid high school boy. She opened my eyes to many cultures around the world and see the beauty of every human being no matter what race, religion, social status, age or gender they are.

She and I prepared to go to college. We separately applied for Utah State University and didn't know that each other had applied. When we got our acceptance letters and shared them with each other we quickly made plans to room together our freshman year. We rode up with her parents to USU to look at housing. We roamed around some of the on campus apartments. When we walked into Jones Hall we both got a really warm feeling. We investigated the building a little bit more and came across a bulletin board completely dedicated to our favorite TV show "The Office". Upon discovering the board we received a confirming feeling that this was where we needed to live. Our first year of college was full of fantastic fun times and some really low times too. We hit a rough patch for awhile but soon we were able to recover from it. (I hope that someday she will be able to forgive me for some of my actions from during that time.)

We moved a couple of blocks away from each other but still remained best of friends. We have spent the night at each others apartments. We still have our late nights and crazy adventures. Our friendship has grown ever stronger. She has been a constant friend all through my life. She is more than just a friend, more than a best friend. She is my sister. She is my source of strength when I have none. She is my source of fun and laughter when I'm in my gloom. She is full of life, insight and wisdom. She always serves others even if they are not her favorite person in the world, and sometimes, even then, she will only serve them more. Without her, my life is not worth living.

I have found my true bosom friend. I Love Emily Alaura Shefchik. I need her to know how much she has shaped my life and helped me become who I am today. She needs to know that every day I pray that we will be by each others side when we grow old. I want to be there for her in every step of her life. Marriage, kids, school, career, church, life and death. I want to do everything I can to help her reach her goals. She deserves the best because "The Best" is what she is.

To Milly

I love you!

Oops!

Uh oh, I forgot to add the rest of the Outfit Remix pictures... and I possibly forgot to take the last days picture! Here is Day 13:
I love to wear that retro scarf with the wool short sleeved sweater, and I wore my sweet boots that Cheryl bought for me. I was one hot babe that day.

I am very sad that I forgot to take a picture of Day 14. I'm also very sad to announce that I cannot remember what I wore. I do remember that it was completely different from all of the other outfits.

I can say that I completed the challenge, however I cannot say I did a good job of recording it. Some day I would like to repeat this challenge and maybe get more people involved in it. I would like to deem my sister, Marshell, the winner of this challenge. Not only did she take a photo every day and post it, she made each outfit different and unique.

Making Up For Lost Time

Time to play catch up on The Outfit Remix! So sorry to post late but after Labor Day Weekend I was greeted by the 24-hour flu.

Day 7 was very laid back because I didn't want/need to dress up to go camping, so I just had jeans and an Aggie t-shirt.

Day 8 was Sunday out camping so I grabbed a jean skirt, maroon floral button up shirt and my black flats. Not to shabby.

Again, still camping so I'm not too dressed up. Day 9 brings us another jeans and a t-shirt combo but this time I'm sporting my I "Heart" New York t-shirt that I really got in New York City on Heritage Tours in 2008.

On Tuesday, Day 10, I was sick with the flu and didn't look pretty so I don't have a picture. I had the chills and a fever so I had on jeans with a long sleeve grey shirt and my Washington D.C. zip up jacket that I really got in Washington D.C. on band tour for the Inagual Parade in 2005.

Day 11, today, I have been feeling much better so I got to wear a new shirt I bought when I when school shopping with my mom and Marshell. I love this turquoise and brown short sleeve shirt! It even has a cute brown hood on it. And what else to I where it with? JEANS!?!? What else! I will try to spice it up a little for the last few days of the challenge. It was just a little difficult because camping for the long weekend and getting sick.

Talents (Hidden and the Lack Thereof)

Today has been one of the strangest days I've had in a long time and it's not over yet. To start off the day I went to my MUSC 3260 class. We started to learn how to play the recorder. It wasn't hard to bring back my skills from fourth grade but I unfortunately decided I could use a little practice.

My instructor Leslie Timmons is a very professional lady about in her 50's. She is usually very poised and proper. She was saying that it doesn't take very much air to blow through the recorder and she simply blew through it with her mouth. Then she exclaimed, "You can even do this!" And she stuck her recorder up her nose and started to play a lovely little tune. She looked a lot like this lady.... crazed eyes and all. :)
We just about died laughing at the sight. She pulled it out and said, "Hey, that actually sounded pretty good!" She is the Best. Teacher. EVER.

Next was my P.E. class. We met at an elementary school to do a jump rope lab. Again I had to pull out skills that I haven't used for a decade. We had a professional jump rope team that consisted of all grade school kids teaching us adults how to jump rope. We all tried to keep up with them. They were really great teachers.
I did just fine with the solo jumping but them we moved to partners using the same rope. Sarah and I mastered that pretty well. When we got put into groups to try double dutch we really started to fall apart. We had four of us in a group and none of us could even swing the ropes with out getting them tangled. The poor little boy that was trying to teach us how to do it had a hard time trying not to laugh at us. We were quite pathetic but we still had a good laugh about it afterwards.
I got home and showered and put on my outfit for Day 6 of The Outfit Remix. Today I decided to go with white leggin's, teal undershirt, a colorful short maxi dress and of course green shoes to match.

Taste Bud Heaven

My taste buds have found their heaven. They ask for nothing but food from.....

That's right the Pit of Pita. I for the past two years that I have lived in Logan I was unbeliever of the goodness that was within the wrap. Cheryl and I went there last weekend and that's when I knew my life was going to change. It was love at first bite. (Ha ha ha, do you get it?) Like I said, Pita Pit seems to be the only food that I want/crave. So if anyone is up to going with me let me know!

Today is Day 5 of The Outfit Remix. Today is another day off from school so I have my comfy jeans on. This also happens to be one of my favorite shirts. It's sage green with cream and sparkly thin plaid pattern layered with a chocolate brown wonder tee. I also get to wear one of my favorite pairs of earrings. Also, the ultimate comfy shoe: brown flip flops. For a comfy day I feel like I look pretty good. :)

Bookstore Fail

In my music class today my instructor informed us that we will not be using any textbooks for this class. The reason is because the bookstore didn't order enough materials for all of her classes even though she sent in her requisition papers early just like everyother year. GRRRRR!!!! Not only that but one of the packets she had us buy in non-returnable when we break the seel. Not only have I broken the seel but I've put it in a binder and used the CD's that came with it AND one of the CD's doesn't EVEN WORK!!! So frustrating....but I figured that I will still keep all the books because I will probably need them for my own classroom....someday.
Anyway....
On a happier note, I looked HOTT today! Day 4 of The Outfit Remix brings us a red t-shirt layered with a black wonder tee. Then on top a comfortable yet stylin' white waterfall jacket and again for bottoms: dark jeans. :) I was lookin' goooood!

Love It!

I couldn't help myself I just had to post about this super cute music video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtVh8kVZ_XM

I fell in love with it! I wish I could be as cute as Zooey Deschanel is in this clip. And how about that Joseph Gordon-Leavitt?!? Eh, eh eh?!?

All I can say is ENJOY!!!

The Sleepy Time She Comes

After the long day yesterday I felt justified that I could sleep in; however, I don't think it was right to sleep in till 11am! Tuesdays and Thursdays are my "days off" so I know I didn't miss anything except the free lunch on campus. Dang it they had Scotsman dogs. :( Maybe I'll get up early enough for Thursdays free Aggie Ice Cream. Yeah, pretty sure I'll be getting up for that!
.
I wanted to post a picture of my wall-in-progress. This year I'm reviving some of my decorations from my last house and doing a jungle theme. I just cut out the letter for my name on Sunday and stuck them up there. Next I would like to put a border either across the top of the wall or just around my name... I still have to figure all that out. I'm also open to any suggestions of what I could do with my wall.

Here is Day 3 for The Outfit Remix. Today I'm sporting a green button up shirt over a white cami and again dark jeans. My necklace and pink earrings (that you can't see very well) finished off this great casual "It's my 'day off'." outfit. :D

School Daze

I will have to say that my first day of school has been quite an interesting one. Let's start with this morning...

I woke up and got on my computer to see if I was still on the wait list for my STAT 1040 class. I had been stressing about it. Being number one on the wait list gave me hope that I would hopefully get into the class. So, this morning I see that I got an email saying that I better hurry up and sign into the class. Then I promptly went to the website and added the class. No hassle, no worries! I got in the class I needed. It was going to be a great day!

Next...

My first two classes went wonderfully. Half of the people in my first class (Music for Elementary Education Teachers) are also in my second class (PE for Elementary Education Teachers)! Funny thing is that I already know most of them from previous classes! Yahoo!!! It was quite the party.

So then...

I walked home and got some lunch and changed my books out for the next set of classes. I also wanted to see if my room-roommate finally made it. I was concerned whether she didn't want to move in because the thought of me was too scary or if something bad had happened to her or whatever. When I got home there was still an empty bed in my room. So I enjoyed lunch in the silence of my room...for only about two minutes and I put music on. :D

Continuing on...

I then went to my next class which was supposed to be a STATs recitation, but when I got there no one was there! No one even pretended to show up. I was concerned that I had the wrong room or something so I went to look it up, only to find out the class is on Wednesdays and Fridays. I really needed the signature of the instructor so that I could also add this class. (Don't worry, I found out later that I don't need that class!) Deciding that I would wait till Wednesday to track him down I went in search of my next class.

Further more...
When I came out of Old Main I was greeted by a wild, wet, wonder of a rainstorm. It poured and poured and kept pouring. The view of the Quad and the rest of campus was so pretty. There was about six of us standing under the outcropping of the building watching the rain fall and the people running through the puddles trying to stay dry and failing. I could have stood there all day however I needed to get to the Family Life building so I joined the failing raindrop dodgers and when I arrived I was waterlogged. Despite the squishy sound my shoes made I had to keep looking for my class. While walking to my next class (Child Guidance) I ran into my friend Anna from last year. Come to find out, she's in that class too! We had a great time catching up on our summer adventures and deciding when we would study together. We also walked back to the TSC in the rain that never stopped pouring.

After another quick break...

I followed my schedule to Photography. This class is going to be AMAZING!!! I'm so excited to be able to learn about how film works, what makes a great picture, how to develop film and all that great stuff! However, it is going to cost an arm and a leg but I feel that it will be so fantastic and fun that it will be worth it to pay all that money. I can't wait to get started!

Next...

I finally arrived at my STATs class that I was so blessed to get into this morning. I found a seat and pulled out my note book and made a new friend. (I had to make a new friend because I didn't know anyone in this class.) Ironically the red headed girl's name I befriended is Ginger. :D She said that she was number two on the waiting list for that class and she got in this morning too. She was the one that informed me that we didn't need to be signed up for a recitation class. *Whew!* She was so sweet to me and we became fast friends. Then our instructor came in. He is the coolest guy I've ever met! I believe that he is from Africa because he had the neatest accent. It was hard at times to understand what he was saying was his accent was so beautiful and his jokes were so funny I didn't notice after a while. I have the feeling that I will really like this class.

Finally...

I made it home safe and sound. I see that my roommate has moved in but no one has seen her yet. I'll have to run into her eventually, right? I'm tired and sore and I have a headache but all in all, I think I had a great first day of school. I'm happy with how everything has worked out. It's going to be a full, enriching, exciting semester.

And now for Day 2 of The Outfit Remix! My back to school outfit consists of nice dark Levi jeans, green sweater that makes my eyes pop, black classic jacket and the perfect green and black snot-rocket chunky necklace.
(I told Marshell earlier that whenever I set the self timer on my camera I forget to smile for the picture. Oops! I'll work on taking better pictures...My photography class should be a huge help!)
